Added by Ashley Casey at 10:16 on Thursday 19 January 2012

Proposals for small scale investigations to be carried out in the Spring Term 2012, following meetings on November 11th, 12th and 19th 2011.

Janice Price – introduction of a daily programme of physical activity for those needing further support.

Wendy Evansto be decided – perhaps the trialling of an item that develops an element of the ‘Derbyshire  Toolkitfor Physical Literacy in the Primary schools’ that would be relevant to Secondary Schools.

Lance Smith– a consideration and exploration of employing concepts from physical literacy to respond to the needs of rapidly developing adolescent boys and girls.

Erin McCarthy – focus on extra-curricular work, some sessions for the ‘middle group’ of learners and the introduction of an opportunity to experience dance (not currently in the curriculum). Some observation of other teachers and their adoption  of the learner/teacher relationship elements on the PL Handout.

Amy Seagraves – focus on extra-curricular work, some sessions for the ‘middle group’ of learners and the introduction of an opportunity to experience gymnastics (not currently in the curriculum)

Claire Bannon – work on setting individual targets and using ipsative assessment to promote motivation and application in physical education.

Elizabeth Myers– setting up an SEN sports club and trialling charting progress instruments – ‘pre test’ and ‘post test’. Inclusion of an item on promoting physical literacy on the agenda of every PE staff meeting/CPD session.

Helen Hazelwood– work with learners with disability and their attitudes to their embodiment. Very early thoughts on setting up a longitudinal study into the maintenance of physical activity throughout the lifecourse.

Judith Piggins – analysis of current use and further development of a personal diary, kept by each pupil to record their experiences in physical activity (in and out of school) and, with some guidance from the teacher, to chart their individual physical literacy journey. The journey to include a variety of PL attributes.
